Ch. 5: The Storm

Yeah, I know. It's been a while. A LONG while, but I needed ideas. And now I have one. So here we go.

It started out as a nice, sunny day. The three riders woke still wondering about that weird thing that happened last week (with the pirates and the cave...). "What day is it?" said Will. "July 9." said Levi. "Day not date, elfin calender." said Render (he was a little angry to be up so early). As they walked on deck they decided to go flying.

They were about ninety yards high when they saw a small ship on the water (where else would a ship be?) They came closer and asked permission to board. The captain let them on because he needed help to decide what to do with some stowaways he found. "I found them in the hold this morning," the farsighted captain said as he pointed to two pirates tie to the base of the mast. Will instantly recognised them as the pirates from the cave. He told Render and Levi and they agreed to spring the pirates.

Clesseath dove under the boat and opened a porthole to make the captain think the ship was leaking. Just as soon as he went below after some time joking that they would let Ancalagon burn through the ropes they all untied the ropes with magic, climbed on dragons, and flew away. By the time the captain got back he had lost his glasses and had no idea what happened.

Once on board the Golden Dawn the riders asked why the pirates had stayed in Alagasia. "We didn't!" said the taller pirate who's name they learned was Bonnie Spinner. She was red with anger because she took their question as an accusation. "And if you think I wanted to come back to this loopy place you're more out of your mind than...well I don't know, but I wanted to go home and stay home, but we ended up in a new land inhabited by Apes then we found another door and went trough it!" "What she is trying to say," interrupted the shorter pirate named Charity Kidd, "Is that it wasn't our fault. We just found another door and figured we'd be better off anywhere than there." "And it just so happened that your door took you back here!" said Will as he finished her sentence. They all went to bed at about midnight after laughing and joking about the jailbreak and the funny old captain.

When they woke the next day they thought it was still night because the sky was black and the air was very cool. Then Render trust his hands in the air and a black, transparent dome was cast over them a split second before lightning struck it. Render's body shook and the cross on the metal band on his right arm glowed with blue. Render then lowered the shield and went below deck with the pirate as Will and Levi mounted their dragons. Render would have gone as well, but he was exhausted after absorbing some of the linghtning's energy.

Will And Levi put magical shields around themselves while Baladon and Clesseath breathed fire to keep the storm cloud away from them. Will and Levi had to fly to the eye of the storm (because it was a hurricane) and push, as hard as they could, with magic at the storm to rip it apart and separate it.

Below deck you could fell the walls and doors vibrating as the thunder rolled across the sky. Render had found that he could to some extent control lightning. The energy that he absorbed had merged with his elven powers and given his a new ability. He had just about as good of an aim with it as the first time Will shot Bonnie's pistol. He did master it to some level though.

Back in the sky Levi and Will had also been hit by lightning, but they didn't know what it would do to them. They were almost to the eye of the storm when Levi was knocked off his dragon by a flying piece of wood. Clesseath caught him and they went to the eye. Once in the eye they gathered all their strength and they pushed as hard as hey could. Their dragons also gave some magical energy and the storm was separated.

Once back on the ship, Will and Levi went strait to bed while Render stayed up practicing his new skill. When everyone woke up the next morning Render taught Will and Levi how to use their lightning ability. They also tried to teach Bonnie and Charity how to hear people's thoughts, but that didn't work so they taught them how to protect their thoughts insted. That night they went to sleep hoping to find some land to explore the next day and get some meat. Hardtack, as much as Will liked it, becomes boring after a week or two.
